Unnerving Concerns
That was when Courtney began to feel somewhat paranoid. She believed that her ex was the sort of person to do something unsavory against her in revenge. She entertained the idea that this man may have been a part of some elaborate, as yet unplayed scam by her unborn child’s missing father. Not one to dwell on paranoia, she let the idea fade and got on with her shift. She did her best to put her mind at ease.

Despite her fears, Courtney put on a smile and treated the man just how she would any ordinary customer. As was her job, she did do her best to make the stranger feel comfortable. After all, it would have been unreasonable to treat him oddly on a hunch. She had no concrete reason to harbor any misgivings despite his peculiarities. But despite her best efforts to assuage the tension, her composure fell flat in the face of the man’s stoic demeanor.
