A Simple Order
His order seemed to reflect his impersonal persona. He ordered a simple meal and a glass of water. Courtney reports having felt uncomfortable, confessing a suspicion that the man was monitoring her unduly. Her customers generally reflected her jolliness and approachability and this change of pace was disturbing Courtney. By the time he had finished up eating, she now admits that she was relieved to see this rather grim and tense encounter apparently drawing to an end.
Chaotic Day
Courtney later remembered that the diner had been quite busy during the man’s visit, having filled up around the time that he had ordered his salad. She had served many other tables, though none made any comparable impression on her. It had all been a mundane working day for Courtney as the faces of those she served blurred into one another. But the striking stranger’s face was one that Courtney will never forget for a long time.
