Because Martin Scorsese's 2002 epic Gangs of New York is set in 1800s New York, it's odd why firefighters in the film are depicted (relatively) wearing modern firefighting gear and uniforms at one point. We can only assume it was for concerns of safety.

Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds) wears a pink dress with a tulle skirt in one of the most iconic scenes from 1952's Singin' in the Rain. The appearance was very 1950s, but would have looked completely out of place in the 1920s, when the picture was set.
