Now here’s a player that didn’t waltz into retirement. Known as one of the greatest players of all time, the Chicago Bulls legend retired initially in 2004 but changed his mind almost as soon as the announcement was made. His comeback was long and hard, and he never got that 7th ring he was after all along.

Charlie Ward is a man of many talents. Initially a football player for Florida State that would end up not being drafted, when he set his sights on the NBA his luck changed. Eleven seasons for the Knicks later, when 2005 came round and he decided to call it a day, it was obvious what his next move should be. Coaching was calling to him.
Ward opted for opportunities at an entry-level, focusing on getting work as a high school coach. The same year he retired, he landed his first gig, as the head coach for Booker T. Washington High School in Florida.
