Not used to such acts of kindness, Courtney’s utter amazement speaks to the harshness of modern living. This is particularly true of our westernized hyper-individualism. She had heard tell of general kindness, but had honestly never experienced it, sad as that may be, and what a glaring indictment of the state of our society that is.

In and of its own the story isn’t newsworthy, but Courtney’s response, touching and brimming with gratitude, certainly warms the heart. “It’s a blessing to come across people like him, and I am forever thankful for that” Courtney was quoted as saying in the local paper. More touching still, Courtney had put her mind to thanking the officer in person.
