Christina ‘Kristy’ McNichol is probably best remembered for her portrayal of the teenager, Letitia “Buddy” Lawrence, in the TV drama Family, one of the most-watched television shows at the time, for which she actually won two Emmy Awards! Kristy actually had guest appearances in series like Starsky and Hutch, The Bionic Woman, The Love Boat, amongst others, before she made a name for herself with Family. In 1980 McNichol got her first break in film with Little Darlings, where she made such a good impression that even the critics who didn’t like the film, gave her performance high acclaim. In 1981 she was again nominated for an award for her role as Polly in Only When I Laugh, this time for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. In 2001 she decided to give acting a rest, saying that she needed the time for her personal happiness and well-being.
