Upon inspection by the doctors to see if the babies were safe and healthy, the doctors were startled to see how strongly the twins had been conjoined, to a level that is rarely witnessed or possible. Their bodies were fused in a way that is called dicephalic parapagus twins, meaning that they share one body which is crowned by two separate heads.

Conjoined twins are not just an extremely rare case, they also suffer a worryingly small chance of living. Out of 189,000 babies born, only one case will be a conjoined one. It was a truly heartwarming moment for the ladies.

The initial position that the ladies took was perfectly relevant to their training and a superb introduction to their careers as co-teachers. “We are fourth- and fifth-grade math specialists, so we’ll have two classes of math,” The twins discussed for the people at home. “It’s part-time, which is nice, so we’ll be kind of transitioning into the teaching world.” This meant that they could ease into the challenges of their work in a steady and calm way.

Patty was also featured on the show, of course, and she would discuss her feelings on their long road to becoming professionals. She was pleased to report that her girls had finally managed to combine their qualified interests. Like any other kids, Brittany and Abby cycled through all manner of grand job fantasies, with Abby dreaming of being a pilot and Brittany desiring her own dental practice. But these were only children’s dreams at the end of the day.

She went on to explain how they were incredibly natural with children, and how youngsters had been naturally drawn to their compassion and incredible nature. But once they had their curiosities appeased they would develop healthy relationships with one another.

Then there was Mr. Good, the principal of Abby and Brittany’s school, who would recognize the talent for teaching that Patty had initially seen in her daughters. Out of 175 competent teachers that had handed in their applications for the job, Abby and Brittany had stood out from the masses. They had quickly realized that these twins were special and that they had every quality that teachers needed, and more. They were born for this role!

In one of the more unusual job interviews, Good described in his section of the twins’ reality show how their interview went. Upon meeting the sisters, Good and his co-interviewers were immediately taken with Abby and Brittany. When the discussion came to an end, Good held the door open for the ladies as they walked out. But as the principal stepped back towards his staff, they jumped at him, strongly suggesting that he dash back after them and immediately hand them the role.

Certainly, Good had never employed teachers like Brittany and Abby, and this was “uncharted territory” for the principal. But that does not mean that he idly welcomed them in. He was strongly dedicated to facilitating a comfortable and accepting working environment for the twins so that their transition would be as smooth as possible. To do this, he would need the help of human resources, who he called up for guidance. He wanted to know what he needed to do.

The Hensels would then be introduced to the human resources specialists, who had drafted a specialized pair of employment contracts for the twins. They talked the two through their individual contracts, and aided them in their understanding and signing of such papers. In the end, a split salary was agreed upon for this part-time position. Given that Abby and Brittany would be performing a single job together, they understood that they would only be paid a singular salary. Brittany was of the mind that despite the fact that they were effectively filling the role of a single teacher, that they brought so much more to their classroom than just one person could. She would describe their combined teaching method, where Abby could be teaching, and Brittany could watch the students and respond to their questions.

Brittany was assured that their worth went far beyond their current consideration. Abby believed that in time, their employers will recognize their worth, and this could lead to a fairer salary. Of course, the sisters were just starting out in the working world, and they were confident that as they progressed in their careers, that their employers would be more open to negotiations. They did both acquire separate degrees, and provide their individual quality work.

The sisters might not have been earning as much as they wanted, but their environment was a warm one.

If the Hensels were worried about the future, they certainly didn’t express it. They were only optimistic about what was in store for them, and their confidence shone through. These were the kinds of twins that would continually dedicate themselves towards bettering themselves and their lives. In Touch Weekly revealed in December 2017 that Abby and Brittany were employed as fifth-grade teachers! They had done their best to get to this point, and were now fully-fledged teachers.
