Day and night in the desert are a stark contrast. Is it any surprise that people take advantage of this for costume changes too? The heat of the day would make it impossible to survive in this head to toe praying mantis costume. At night, however, the temperatures cool and Burners can take advantage of that to display more of their creative sides to the world. Participation is a requirement of the visitors to the festival, something not often observed with these sorts of festivals. Participation can be achieved in a number of different ways, from volunteering to creating art. Art at the festival is often an activity rather than just a visual experience, as can be seen by this interesting ladder. The precariously dangling rocks don’t seem to intimidate everyone and so makes a stunning picture! We would love to give this ride a go, any time.
