Startling Discovery
Courtney served the man as politely and friendly as she would any other customer. They did not talk much beyond the taking of orders and Courtney occasionally checking in to see if the stranger was enjoying his food or needed anything. The man finally and abruptly left the diner without a word and nothing that indicated the surprise that was to follow. The note that he left would serve as his revelation. The burning question then was, what could he have written to so rile young Courtney?

Although Courtney would be brought to tears by the stranger’s note, life had not been easy for the woman. Even before the event, her emotional state was suffering under her crushing circumstances. Her separation from her as yet unborn baby’s father had not been an amicable affair. The tension of separation is bad enough, but it is a hundredfold more traumatic with a child on the way. So many single mothers-to-be are left relatively stranded.
