“We’d already spent most of the money we earned from the surrogacy contract, but now we were apparently on the hook for thousands of dollars,” Jessica explained to the New York Post. As though the large amount of $22,000 was not bad enough, the Chinese couple were also demanding thousands in return for taking care of the child. Jessica and her family had just moved into their new home and had used nearly all of the money in the process. They had no means of paying the Chinese couple what they were demanding.

If all this wasn’t bad enough, Jessica was informed by the agency that her son would be given up for adoption! Jessica and her husband knew that they would need to do whatever they could to prevent this from happening. There was no way that they were going to allow their growing family to be destroyed like this. These were confident people that would do anything that it took to save their baby and its future.
