The Chinese couple intended on using the child as a means of recovering the funds they believed they were owed by Jessica and her husband and they would even go so far as to put the baby up for adoption in hopes of recovering these funds. Understandably, Jessica began to give up hope that she would ever get her son back and she was unsettled at the thought of having a child that she would be forced to let go of simply because she did not have the means to buy him.
